IQAC Organizes a Research Seminar on “Use of AI in Research” at Khwaja Yunus Ali University

On Tuesday, 21 July 2026, at 11:00 AM, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) organized a seminar titled “Use of AI in Research” with the aim of promoting the responsible, ethical, and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research.

The seminar was attended by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Asraf Ali; Advisor, Professor Dr. Hossain Reza; Advisor of International Relations, Professor Dr. N. A. Mallik; Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. Mostofa Mahmud Hasan; Controller of Examinations, Professor Abu Torab Md. Hassan; Registrar, Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman; and a total of 79 participants, including 73 faculty members from various faculties of the university.

The event brought together faculty members, researchers, and academic professionals from different departments of the university. The seminar highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in contemporary research and demonstrated how AI-powered tools can support literature review, academic writing, data analysis, reference management, manuscript preparation, and scholarly communication.

The session was moderated by Mr. F. M. Javed Mehedi Shamrat, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who served as the Resource Person. Through an engaging presentation and live demonstrations, he introduced participants to a range of AI-powered research tools and explained their practical applications in improving research quality, enhancing productivity, and increasing institutional efficiency. He also emphasized the importance of the responsible use of AI, maintaining institutional integrity, ensuring originality and transparency, and adhering to ethical research standards.

The seminar concluded with closing remarks delivered by Professor Dr. Mostofa Mahmud Hasan, Director, IQAC. He urged faculty members to uphold responsibility and integrity in both research and teaching activities. He highlighted the growing importance of prompt engineering alongside Artificial Intelligence in higher education and research, and encouraged the integration of prompt engineering into contemporary research methodologies. He further noted that AI-assisted action research, doctoral-level analysis, and evidence-based studies can contribute significantly to policy formulation and informed decision-making, while also fostering critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and scholarly research.

The seminar ended with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants discussed the opportunities, limitations, and future implications of AI-assisted research. The event reflects IQAC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening research excellence, encouraging innovation, and advancing a culture of quality assurance at Khwaja Yunus Ali University.

Key Objectives

1. To enhance faculty members\\\' knowledge and practical skills in the ethical, responsible, and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for academic research, including literature review, academic writing, data analysis, reference management, and scholarly communication.\
2. To promote the integration of AI and prompt engineering into contemporary research methodologies, fostering innovation, critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and evidence-based research in higher education.\
3. To strengthen the University\\\'s research and quality assurance culture by encouraging responsible AI adoption, maintaining academic integrity, and improving research excellence, productivity, and institutional effectiveness.
