KYAU Health-Welfare Committee Organizes Thalassemia Awareness Program

Bridging structural care with proactive clinical awareness, the Health-Welfare Committee of Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) successfully organized a “Thalassemia Awareness Program” aimed at educating students about the importance of early detection, preventive healthcare, and social responsibility in combating hereditary blood disorders.

The session was graced by Honorable Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Rubaiyat Farzana Hussain. The program was convened by Prof. Dr. Fazle Raabbi Shakil Ahmed, Convener of the Health-Welfare Committee. Distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Hossain Reza (Advisor and Professor Emeritus), the Honorable Registrar, and the Director of IQAC, shared valuable insights on institutional responsibility in promoting public health awareness among youth.

Expert keynote speakers Dr. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed and Dr. Samia from KYAMCH delivered impactful discussions emphasizing the importance of thalassemia prevention, early screening, and pre-marital testing as essential steps in reducing the spread of the disease. Their presentations highlighted the need for informed decision-making and community-level awareness in safeguarding future generations.

The program also recognized the proactive participation of Summer 2025 semester students who engaged in health screening initiatives, reflecting growing student commitment toward health awareness activities on campus.

The event concluded successfully, reinforcing KYAU’s dedication to integrating academic life with health education and community well-being initiatives.
