On the occasion of World DNA Day 2026, the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology organised a creative craft competition on 21 April at 11:00 a.m. The event aimed to encourage students to present biological concepts through innovative models and artistic designs.

The competition was evaluated by the honourable advisor Dr Hossain Reza and Professor Dr Ranjit Kumar Saha, who assessed the creativity, scientific accuracy, and presentation of the participants. The crafting exhibition was organised by Dr Zinat Tamannaa, Jamiatul Husna Sathi, and Md Rakibul Islam Rubat.

The Head of the Department, Dr Tariqul Islam, along with other respected faculty members, attended the programme and encouraged the students for their innovative efforts. Five participants from each semester were selected to present their models. Each group was given five minutes for presentation followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session, allowing students to explain the scientific concepts behind their creations.

This was the first crafting presentation organized by the BCBT Department, providing students with a unique opportunity to combine scientific knowledge with creativity. The selected topics for the exhibition included CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system (16th batch), The Central Dogma of molecular biology (18th batch), DNA model (19th batch), the eco-friendly rotating DNA and replication model (20th batch), Central dogma of life (21st batch), and DNA double helix model (22nd batch).

The event successfully promoted scientific learning, teamwork, and creativity among students, making the celebration of World DNA Day both educational and engaging.
