The Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (BCBT) at Khwaja Yunus Ali University proudly celebrates the successful completion of an academic internship by Sajib Ghosh, Ikbal Hossain Emon, and Md. Shihab Hasan Sumon (14th Batch) at the Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute.
This internship, conducted as part of their undergraduate curriculum, offered a valuable platform to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the interdisciplinary field of oceanography. The students gained hands-on exposure to marine chemistry, ecosystem analysis, and ocean dynamics, developing a comprehensive understanding of ocean health and environmental sustainability.
Through engagement with multiple research divisions, they observed real-time scientific investigations and explored the role of biochemistry and biotechnology in marine systems. A key highlight was their insight into marine biogeochemistry, where they examined the interaction between biological and chemical processes that regulate ecological balance. They also became familiar with modern analytical techniques used in environmental monitoring.
The experience significantly enhanced their professional competencies, including laboratory skills, sample handling, data analysis, and scientific communication. It also fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and research-orientated problem-solving abilities.
Overall, the internship at BORI proved to be an enriching academic experience, strengthening their research foundation and inspiring future pursuits in marine science, environmental studies, and biotechnology.
