BAC-KYAU Collaboration Workshop Held on Accreditation Preparation

A workshop titled “Progress in Accreditation Preparation through Documentation and Knowledge Exchange: BAC-KYAU Collaboration” was held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 9:30 am at Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The workshop brought together the Director (Accreditation and QA & NQF), Honorable Chairman and Honorable Full-Time Member (Accreditation and QA & NQF) of Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Emeritus Professor and Advisor, Advisor of International Relations, Director of IQAC, Deans, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Registrar, Heads of Departments, teachers, and students. The volunteer team of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (BCBT) provided valuable support in organizing the event.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies. Professor Dr. Fazle Rabbi Shakil Ahmed, Additional Director (ETA), IQAC, delivered the welcome speech.
Prof. Nasir Ahammed, Director of BAC, highlighted the importance of accreditation in ensuring quality education and strengthening higher education institutions. He noted that accreditation will increasingly become an important part of quality assurance across universities in Bangladesh.
Prof. Dr. Mostofa Mahmud Hasan, Director, IQAC, KYAU, presented the university’s progress in quality assurance and accreditation preparation, highlighting key developments in infrastructure, academic and non-academic activities, laboratories, libraries, research, teaching-learning, and departmental initiatives. He emphasized systematic documentation, evidence-based practices, continuous improvement, and collective responsibility and informed that KYAU is preparing to submit final accreditation applications for three to four departments in October 2026. He expressed confidence that continued cooperation and BAC guidance would further accelerate the university’s accreditation process.
Prof. Dr. Md. Shah Amran, Member, BAC, delivered an informative and interactive session on the accreditation standards, emphasizing systematic documentation, evidence-based quality assurance, and continuous improvement. He discussed key areas including OBE, curriculum, assessment, teaching-learning, research, and quality enhancement, and provided practical guidance on strengthening departmental preparedness for accreditation.
Prof. Dr. Hossain Reza, Emeritus Professor and Advisor of KYAU, expressed hope that the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) would provide continued guidance and support to help transform the university, founded by the Dr. M. M. Amjad Hussain in a remote region, into a globally recognized institution. He also expressed optimism that, with BAC’s support, KYAU would achieve accreditation and uphold the highest standards of quality education and academic excellence.
Prof. Dr. Md. Akhter Hossain Khan, PhD, Chairman, BAC, emphasized the importance of quality, ethical, and outcome-based education in achieving sustainable institutional development and accreditation. He highlighted the need for academic integrity, effective teaching-learning, research, proper documentation, and continuous quality improvement. He encouraged the university community to work collectively to build a strong culture of quality and ensure that accreditation contributes to the long-term development and excellence of the institution.
In his closing and presidential remarks, Prof. Dr. Md. Asraf Ali, Vice-Chancellor, KYAU, expressed his vision of establishing KYAU as a model institution of quality and excellence. He emphasized effective time management, teamwork, and strengthening research, writing, and teaching capabilities.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Registrar, KYAU, followed by a group photo session. The event further strengthened collaboration between BAC and KYAU and provided valuable guidance for accelerating the university’s accreditation preparation.
