Team Virus Crowned Champion as Intra-Department Debate Competition 2026 Concludes with Recognition Ceremony

The final round of the Intra-Department Friendly Debate Competition 2026, organized by Microbe’s Club under the supervision of the Department of Microbiology, Khwaja Yunus Ali University (KYAU), was held on 11 August, 2026 at Room 211 (Seminar Room). The final round marked the culmination of the debate competition initiated in July, providing an engaging platform for students to demonstrate their critical thinking, logical reasoning, communication skills, and confidence.
The final debate featured Team Virus and Team Algae, the winners of the first and second preliminary sessions, respectively. The motion for the final round was “Government jobs are hindering the innovative potential of young people.” Team Virus represented the Proposition, while Team Algae represented the Opposition. Following a lively and intellectually stimulating exchange of arguments, rebuttals, and counterarguments, Team Virus emerged as the champion of the Intra-Department Friendly Debate Competition 2026. The final judging panel comprised Md. Matiur Rahman, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Medical Physics; Md. Azmol Hossain, Assistant Professor, Department of ICT; and Md. Ariful Haque, Assistant Professor, Department of ICT. Md. Masudur Rahman Khalil (PhD) served as the moderator of the final round.
Following the debate, a recognition and award ceremony was organized to celebrate the achievements of students in the department’s recent co-curricular activities. Winners of the previous debate competitions and Microbiology Sports Day 2026 were formally awarded commemorative crests and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances. The awards were handed over by the Vice-Chancellor of Khwaja Yunus Ali University, the University Advisor and Professor Emeritus, the Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical and Life Sciences, and the Head of the Department of Microbiology. The presence and encouragement of the university authorities and departmental leadership added special significance to the occasion and motivated students to continue their active participation in academic and co-curricular activities.
The event concluded on a celebratory note, highlighting the Department of Microbiology’s continued commitment to nurturing intellectual excellence, leadership, teamwork, communication skills, sportsmanship, and holistic student development through meaningful academic and co-curricular initiatives.
