BCBT Department Organizes Seminar on Career Opportunities and Preparation in the Pharmaceutical Industry

The Cell and Gene Club of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Khwaja Yunus Ali University, successfully organized a seminar titled “Career Opportunities and Preparation in the Pharmaceutical Industry.”
The seminar was held on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Mr. Ishtiaque Maruf, Chief Operating Officer of Doctors Chemical Works Limited and an expert in the pharmaceutical industry, attended the programme as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, he discussed various career opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector, recruitment procedures, essential professional skills, curriculum vitae preparation, and effective strategies for succeeding in job interviews.
The programme was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology; Professor Dr. Md. Fazle Rabbi Shakil Ahmed, Dean of the School of Biomedical and Life Sciences; Professor Dr. Ranjit Kumar Saha; and Professor Emeritus Dr. Hossain Reza. Other faculty members of the department were also present at the seminar.
Approximately 110 students from the Departments of Biochemistry and Biotechnology and Pharmacy participated in the programme. During the interactive question-and-answer session, students raised various questions regarding career preparation, professional development, and career planning in the pharmaceutical industry. The keynote speaker responded to their questions and shared valuable guidance based on his practical experience in the industry.
The organizers stated that seminars of this nature play an important role in helping students acquire professional knowledge and skills alongside their academic education. The programme encouraged students to become more confident, informed, and better prepared for their future careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
